St. Joseph's Pelandok Scout Group
is a well-established scout unit in Singapore and has a long history
behind it. It is the 4th Scout Group to be established in Singapore,
forming in 1922. It was defunct during the 2nd World War. After the
war the group was revived under the capable leadership of Mr. James
Tseng (Pelandok) in 1947. The word "Pelandok" stands for Mousedeer
in Malay and it symbolises the spirit of the unit, being careful,
alert and quick-witted.
We have grown from strength to strength through the years. Today we
number 118 scouts and 16 Ventures led by 9 capable leaders, 5 of
whom are full time staff of St. Joseph's Institution and 4 Volunteer
Adult Leaders. Mr. Alphonsus Gregory is the Group Scout Leader, Mr
Alvin Chua is the Scout Leader, and Mr. Malcolm Tan Ban Hoe is the
Venture Scout Leader. The other Assistant Scout Leaders are Mr.
Adrian Lim, and Mr. David Kwang. The Assistant Venture Scout Leaders
are Mr. Trevor Bamanshaw, Mr. Tan Boon Leong, and Mr. Ng June Ren.
