Combined Activity
with Cedar Guides - Write-up
On 20th
April 2002, the SJI Pelandok Scout Group organized together with
Cedar Girl Guides a combine meeting. It was to be a day of exchange
in skills, getting to know more friends and most importantly having
lots of fun as brother and sister scouts and guides.
The meeting
started of with ice breaking games among the patrols formed with a
mixed of scouts and guides. Among the highlights conducted on the
earlier part of the day was also backwoodsman cooking competition in
which cooking that only requires utensils from nature. Each patrol
was required to cook a certain amount of dishes as part of a cooking
competition to see who is the best cook. The scouts showed off their
impressive skills in setting up a fireplace while the guides
flaunted off their delightful skills in preparing good and delicious
dishes that came in a form of pizza, tuna puff, roasted chicken,
breadstuff and pasta all by cooking through a simple fireplace.
There were many new skills learned and everyone had a delicious
lunch.
Following the
backwoodsman was the station games and workshops activity conducted
by the organizing committee of the meeting. Among the activity
conducted were, first aid, pioneering, games, blind tent pitching
and fancy foot drill. The scouts and guides had a wonderful time
learning new skills such first aid and knotting from both first aid
and pioneering station while they surly had a fun time in games and
blind man tent pitching.
The aim of
this combine meeting is to promote more exchanges and interaction
between the scout and guides. While it was sad that the meeting
ended when the day come to a close, many friendships were formed and
our scouts and Cedar girl guides would surly look forward for more
of such combine meetings next year!
