Sections of Scouting in Singapore

Introduction:

Scouting in Singapore consists of 4 major sections which is the
Cadet Scout Section, the Scout Section, the Venture Section, and the Rover Section. It is one of the many other Uniformed Group Organisations (UGOs) offered as Co-Curricular Activities for student to join. The other UGOs are the National Cadet Corps (NCC), the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC), the Boys and Girls Brigades, St. John's Ambulance Brigades, Red Cross Brigades, and Military Bands, just to name a few. Scouting is the only Uniformed Group Organisation, other than those in military units, which has the privilege to have the National Colours (Code of Arms) on the uniforms. If a scout is heading abroad for international or regional activities and events, like Jamborees, he is allowed to wear the Miniature National Flag above his left pocket.

Cadet Scout Section:

This is the youngest section of scouts in Singapore and is equivalent to cub scouting in other countries.  Under this section, cadet scouts are taught to build up different types of interest and hobbies. They are also taught basic rope-work, national loyalty, and many other skill, character and interest developing things. A training camp, known as the Sixers Training Camp (STC), is organized for them once a year. It is a 3 days 2 nights affair with the scouts camping out in the A-Shaped huts at Sarimbun Scout Camp usually in mid-year or holidays period. After the camp, they may be selected to lead their sadet scout units as sixers or assistant sixers. Cadet scouts generally range from  7 to 13 years of age.
